Redundancy Beckhoff IPCs
Greetings ,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post
I’m currently implementing automation system using Beckhoff product.
I was made aware that Beckhoff doesn’t support hardware redundancy and based from my reading it’s possible to achieve it via software redundancy.
Does anyone ever tried it before? If yes, perhaps somebody could share with me on how to achieve it? Any ideas and recommendations are highly appreciated as I’m not someone who is well verse in automation (just recently started).
Here’s my setup and what I would like to achieve from it:
Beckhoff IPCs:
X2 Unit of C5210-0040
Target/Goal:
- Two IPCs sharing one Modbus TCP/IP.
- Upon failure on primary IPCs, the backup will immediately assume control.
- I'm not trying to achieve CPU Level Redundancy.
Thanks in advance!
@adexp ,
Hi in an Ethercat webinar they showed this image, but it is for Ethercat, for Modbus TCP/IP I don't think it can be done...
